Hold, at minimum, the doctorate or recognized terminal degree in the field of specialization; have developing program of scholarly research, experience in teaching, or professional work of high caliber, and willingness to participate in University related service duties at least at the departmental level.
General Description/Primary Purpose:
The School of Engineering is seeking a 9-month, tenure-earning, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering. This position will report to Dr. Alan Harris, Director of the School of Engineering. Position responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses with a 2/2 teaching load, leading an externally funded research program in their field and service to the School, College of Computing, Engineering and Construction and the University of North Florida.
Anticipated Start Date: The position is expected to begin on August 4, 2025.

Required Qualifications:
The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or closely-related field with a specialization in transportation engineering. The candidate must also demonstrate a record of scholarly achievement and evidence of teaching excellence.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated professional or research experience in transportation planning, smart city infrastructure, transportation big data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, integrated multimodal transportation networks, resilience of transportation infrastructure systems or connected and automated vehicle systems. Candidates should demonstrate the potential to establish an independent, externally funded research program and to collaborate effectively with existing faculty, local industry and Florida DOT. The successful candidate will be expected to show a strong commitment to teaching excellence and a willingness to engage in continuous learning. Additionally, collegiality, active service, and participation in departmental governance are essential attributes for this role.
