Postdoctoral Fellowship – KFUPM

The University of Washington (UW) Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Sustainable Transportation Infrastructure Systems. This is a full-time, tenure track position, on a 9-month service period, with an anticipated start date of September 2025. Salary range is $11,000 – $13,250/monthly.

This position will perform research focused on designing, building, operating, or managing future transportation services and associate infrastructure. The successful candidate will address transportation and infrastructure topics aligned with the Grand Challenges identified in the Department’s strategic plan.  These Grand Challenges integrate existing areas of Civil Engineering, and we seek applicants working at the nexus of two or more established subdisciplines.  This may include a focus on resilient transportation infrastructure, decarbonization or zero emissions transportation, or pathways to implementing sustainable infrastructure solutions and measuring their effectiveness. This position may specialize in research on emerging technologies and systems.

The successful candidate is expected to engage in research, teaching, and service. Our department offers a highly collegial and collaborative culture, with broad interdisciplinary research ties and opportunities. The UW has an active community of researchers in transportation, sustainable, and resilient infrastructure within CEE, the College of Engineering (CoE), and across the UW. The candidate is expected to bring new areas of strength for the department; to collaborate with colleagues within CEE, CoE, throughout the university, and externally; and to develop an externally funded research program. In teaching, the candidate will support and expand CEE course offerings at the undergraduate and graduate levels including courses related to transportation and sustainable or resilient infrastructure systems. In all aspects of this position, the candidate will be expected to contribute to an inclusive environment that provides opportunities for all to succeed.
