Job Description

Prof. Wang is looking for 1 Postdoctoral Researcher and 2–3 funded Ph.D. students to join his group in the Glenn Department of Civil Engineering within School of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (SCEEES) at Clemson University, starting in Spring or Fall 2026.

His research focuses on human-centered infrastructure risk and resilience, combining data-driven modeling, large-scale agent-based simulation, and risk & resilience analytics to build safer, more resilient communities.

Open Positions and Candidate Background

Postdoctoral Researcher:
Candidates with expertise in agent-based modeling, infrastructure systems, resilience analytics, or data-informed modeling are encouraged to apply. Experience in interdisciplinary resilience research and computational modeling is desirable.


Ph.D. Student(s) (Spring/Fall 2026):
Basic Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil/Transportation Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science,
    Mathematical Sciences, or related fields
  • Strong computational and programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R)
  • Experience or interest in simulation, modeling, or data analytics

Preferred, but not required

  • Experience with AI, machine learning, or large-scale agent-based modeling frameworks
  • Prior publications, research projects, data analytics, or risk and resilience research experience
