Assistant Professor in Sustainable Multi-Modal Transport Systems

Decarbonizing transport? Make an impact in sustainable transport science.

Job description

Transport systems are at the core of many societal challenges, acting as catalysts as well as offering potential solutions. This is all the more evident in the context of sustainability.

This academic career position will contribute to the development and application of methods, empirical analysis, models, strategies, and policies in the field of sustainable mobility, making contributions to both fundamental and application-driven research. This includes research and education related to the design, planning, operations, and assessment of measures aimed at the decarbonisation of both urban and long-distance transport systems and their impacts on climate change while considering related technological and societal trends. Moreover, it includes managing and stimulating behavioural and technological transitions and considering interactions with energy and transport infrastructure, urban planning, and economic policies.

Requirements

You hold a relevant PhD degree. In addition you have a track record and clear vision on conducting research, and mentoring and teaching in transportation science related themes (involving optimization, simulation, forecasting, network science, data science or similar).

We are looking for a colleague that is committed to contributing to a stimulating research environment, creating a societal impact, and appreciates a diverse, goal-oriented and merit-based work environment.

Excellent communication skills are crucial for success in this position; ability and interest in connecting and collaborating within and across research teams, interacting and connecting with students, academics, and stakeholders from the public and private sectors. An experience in working as a post-doctoral researcher in the topic considered an advantage.
